Do not always be swayed by the false contrast ratios provided by manufacturers. Display experts agree that those figures are artificially generated and are misleading.
Another quality that is closely watched regarding contrast ratio is the black level. This provides the user with a better gaming or movie experience. Few manufacturers volunteer the details on their black level. The brightness level determines the maximum intensity of the white opposing the black. Remember that the level of brightness erodes over time. The display from the bulb backlights lose intensity the moment they are turned on.
When making your monitor selection, ergonomics are important too. A suitable tilt and height that can be adjusted are essential for neck and back strains and reduced eyes. To achieve landscape and portrait views, it might be easier to work with odd shapes or elongated documents and spreadsheets. Also, check whether the displays have glossy screens or matte.Glossy screens when contrasted produce reflective glares.
The final phase to consider is the number of connectivity port. USB ports too can come in handy as ports for HDMI, DVI and display port cables connecting various devices.
